Tenstorrent is seeking a Senior PCB Power Design Engineer to design and optimize power distribution systems for next-generation AI accelerator cards. You will work across the full power design lifecycle—from component selection and simulation through board bring-up, validation, debugging, and production readiness. This is a hybrid role based in Toronto, Canada. You will collaborate closely with hardware, firmware/software, thermal, mechanical, and validation teams to deliver robust power architectures for high-performance AI systems. The role balances performance, area, cost, and reliability in complex PCB designs. Key responsibilities include: - Designing and analyzing power distribution systems for high-performance, high-power products - Conducting end-to-end power design using industry tools (Simplis, PSim, PowerDC, PowerSI) and enterprise eCAD platforms - Optimizing power architectures including multi-phase buck, boost, STC, TLVR topologies, magnetics, and control theory - Performing power integrity and PDN analysis and optimization - Leading voltage regulator module bring-up, validation, and post-silicon troubleshooting - Ensuring PCB design, EMI/EMC compliance, and thermal management align with standards (PCIe CEM, PMBus, AVSBus) - Hands-on lab work: prototyping, testing, power consumption analysis, and design validation - Contributing to the complete hardware development lifecycle from simulation through production You will gain exposure to designing power systems for AI accelerator cards and datacenter platforms, deepen expertise in VR tuning and PDN optimization, and learn how power design integrates with broader system architecture. Note: The company notes it welcomes candidates at various experience levels and will assess appropriate seniority during interviews; offers may differ from the posted level. REQUIREMENTS: - Experience designing, analyzing, and debugging power distribution systems for high-performance or high-power products - Proficiency with power design and analysis tools (Simplis, PSim, PowerDC, PowerSI, or equivalent) and enterprise eCAD tools - Deep understanding of power architectures and topologies: multi-phase buck, boost, STC, TLVR, magnetics, control theory, voltage regulator tuning, power integrity, and PDN analysis - Knowledge of PCB design, EMI/EMC compliance, thermal management, and standards including PCIe CEM, PMBus, and AVSBus - Familiarity with OCP/OAM and PCIe graphics cards or datacenter systems is valuable - Strong lab and debugging skills: VRM bring-up, validation, power consumption analysis, prototyping, testing, and post-silicon troubleshooting - Hands-on approach to moving from schematics and simulations into lab work - Systems-oriented collaboration across hardware, firmware/software, thermal, mechanical, and validation teams - Detail-oriented problem-solving balancing electrical performance, power integrity, thermal constraints, board area, cost, and reliability - Ability to thrive in dynamic environments and contribute at appropriate scope while growing technically Note: Employment is contingent upon eligibility to access U.S. export-controlled technology and compliance with U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR). Citizenship/permanent residency status or ability to obtain prior license approval may be required.
