Wealth.com is the leading estate planning platform for wealth management firms, trusted by over 1,000 financial institutions. You'll be the first dedicated Senior Data Engineer, owning the entire data platform end-to-end. In this ownership role, you'll take responsibility for AWS data infrastructure, dbt projects, Redshift warehouse, and the Airflow orchestration environment connecting them. You'll work with a small, collaborative team of analysts and engineers who depend on this platform daily, and partner closely with Platform engineers to ensure data models stay synchronized with product changes. Your stakeholders are primarily internal, so you'll see the impact of your work quickly. Key responsibilities include: - Designing, operating, and improving the complete data platform: pipelines, Airflow environment, dbt, and Redshift warehouse - Ensuring data reliability and trust; investigating pipeline failures and implementing preventative measures - Managing the full data journey from messy source systems to clean, modeled warehouse data - Making architectural decisions on warehouse design, scalability, and cost optimization - Bridging data/analytics needs with Platform engineering on major technical decisions Expectations: In your first 30 days, you'll learn the stack and ship something small. By 90 days, you'll own day-to-day pipeline and dbt operations. Within a year, you'll leave the platform more reliable, better documented, and easier to build on, with a clear roadmap forward. The work is a mix of building new pipelines, hardening existing ones, and translating business questions into data systems. You'll help lead the migration to Airflow. The team is small and low-process; priorities come from business needs, and you're expected to drive your own work. Requirements: - 4+ years in data engineering, analytics engineering, or closely related role, including at least 2 years at a company operating at meaningful scale - Strong SQL and Python, with Python used for data processing and pipeline work - Hands-on production experience with dbt and pipeline orchestration (Airflow or similar) - Working knowledge of AWS and cloud data warehouses (Redshift preferred) - Good instincts for warehouse and system design - Ability to translate stakeholder requirements into code and systems, with clear communication of decisions Nice to have: - Experience migrating pipelines to Airflow or similar orchestrators - Background in fintech, wealth management, or regulated environments (compliance, audit, PII handling) - Experience with document processing or AI/ML data pipelines
