Plus One Robotics is a dynamic startup developing cutting-edge robotic solutions for logistics and e-commerce applications. We aim to revolutionize automation with high-performance systems that integrate hardware and software seamlessly.
As a Senior Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and development of robotic controls and electronics for our InductOne and related systems. You will program PLCs and configure controls (drivers, sensors, etc.) to meet performance and quality requirements. You will drive technical architecture by collaborating with mechanical and software engineers.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Execution & Product Development:
- Support the implementation of best practices for electrical/controls change management
- Draft industrial electrical schematics, panel layouts, and corresponding BOMs
- Select and specify industrial components for electrical design
- Program and troubleshoot PLCs (Allen Bradley or similar) for machine control
- Assist in the evaluation and implementation of control systems for machine safety
- Deliver high-quality hardware releases within scope and timeline
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Coordinate with software development teams to understand and implement hardware/software interfaces
- Provide technical support for requests from operations and field teams
- Provide accurate time estimates for assigned individual tasks
- Proactively report task status, technical hurdles, and progress to the group lead
Work Environment:
- In-person role at San Antonio, TX headquarters
- Professional office setting with occasional exposure to robotic systems and moving mechanical parts
- Noise level may at times be loud
- Up to 20% travel for customer support, first article inspections, site acceptance testing, sales support, conference participation, etc.
- Full-time, 40 hours/week, Monday-Friday, 9:00am-6:00pm
Requirements:
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in controls, electrical engineering, robotics, automation, or hardware product development
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Foundational knowledge of robotic systems and industrial automation
- Experience with I/O networks and machine control using PLCs
- Experience with Studio 5000, Copia, AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks, and/or similar tools
- Experience with engineering change management and/or product life cycle management tools
- Strong background in software/hardware integration and product development processes
