Pixxel is seeking a Spacecraft Controller to join its operations team in Los Angeles. This is a full-time role supporting 24/7 spacecraft monitoring and control operations for Pixxel's hyperspectral Earth observation satellite constellation.
In this role, you will monitor and control spacecraft systems according to mission plans and schedules, ensuring zero downtime due to operational lapses or errors while maintaining spacecraft safety and health. You will conduct real-time spacecraft monitoring during assigned rotational shifts, document all activities and telemetry observations, and facilitate smooth handovers between shift teams.
Key responsibilities include identifying and reporting anomalies, executing contingency procedures to troubleshoot issues, preparing detailed documentation and reports, participating in operations planning meetings, and providing telemetry analysis support as needed. You will work closely with mission control teams and ground systems personnel to ensure mission success.
Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in physics, electronics, software engineering, or aerospace; US citizenship; 0-2 years of relevant work experience with good knowledge of spacecraft subsystems. Desirable skills include systems engineering background in satellite and ground systems, proficiency with Unix/Linux platforms, exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical abilities, and the ability to remain calm under pressure while following established procedures.
