SpaceX is seeking a Sourcing Manager to lead capital equipment procurement and construction services for large-scale ultrapure water (UPW) and wastewater treatment plants supporting Starlink's high-volume manufacturing operations, including one of North America's largest PCB manufacturing lines and major solar cell facilities.
You will own end-to-end sourcing strategy for complex industrial water systems, including raw water intake/treatment, process water, ultrapure/deionized water generation, cooling tower operations, wastewater collection and treatment, and Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) facilities. Key responsibilities include developing comprehensive contract management processes with internal stakeholders (wastewater engineering, construction, facilities, operations); executing procurement strategies for specialized equipment (membrane systems, RO, EDI/IX, evaporators, crystallizers, chemical systems, solids handling); performing market analysis to determine should-costs and achieve optimal purchasing deals; and managing vendor/contractor relationships.
You will define and implement long-term sourcing strategies to ensure reliable water supply and cost-effective availability of treatment systems. Additional duties include creating and negotiating contract documents with legal; tracking and reporting projected/actual spend on multi-million dollar CAPEX projects; presenting value propositions to management on contract awards and cost reduction strategies; leading RFPs for capital equipment and specialized systems; and developing supplier management programs with KPI monitoring. The role requires advanced quantitative and business process analysis to identify financial impacts, cost improvement opportunities, and performance metrics for assigned categories.
Basic qualifications: Bachelor's degree plus 5+ years in purchasing/procurement, engineering (chemical, environmental, mechanical), contract negotiation, operations/supply chain management, construction/facilities/industrial plant management, or wastewater/water treatment systems; OR 9+ years of experience in these areas without a degree. Preferred experience includes knowledge of wastewater treatment technologies, industrial water systems, capital project management, and EPC contractor management.
