Salary: USD 110,000 - 160,000 / annual

LineVision is a grid-enhancing technology company that provides electric utilities with advanced grid intelligence through dynamic line ratings and optical sensor technology. The company serves eight of the ten largest US utilities, including National Grid, Southern Company, and Exelon. As a Solutions Engineer, you will be the trusted technical point of contact for utility customers, translating their transmission planning and operational challenges into well-scoped LineVision solutions. You will lead network-level project scoping, build data-driven deliverables, and establish yourself as a recognized industry voice in grid intelligence. Key responsibilities include: - Serve as the primary technical resource for utility customers, translating transmission planning and operational challenges into LineVision solutions - Lead scoping studies and profiling analyses, delivering findings that demonstrate clear project value - Build and present technical deliverables for pre-sales engagements, from discovery through business case development - Represent LineVision at industry forums (IEEE, CIGRE) and contribute to white papers and technical presentations - Bring structured customer feedback to Product and Engineering teams to inform roadmap priorities - Travel to customer sites approximately 25% of the time First 3 months: Complete onboarding on LineVision's platform, sensor technology, and Dynamic Line Rating methodology; shadow pre-sales meetings and begin building scoping deliverables independently; analyze data from prior customer deployments. First 6 months: Own the technical workstream on assigned pre-sales opportunities; lead technical deep dives with utility engineering teams; deliver structured feedback reports to Product based on customer engagement patterns. First year: Operate as an independent technical lead on mid-sized customer opportunities; contribute to or present at industry events; help improve scoping tools and processes. Key competencies: Critical thinking to analyze complex planning and operational problems; stakeholder management with utility engineers and executives; ability to devise and iterate on technical solutions; strong execution and follow-through on multiple concurrent engagements. REQUIREMENTS: Essential: - Background in electrical engineering, power systems, or utility transmission operations - Experience translating technical analysis into business-relevant recommendations for utility stakeholders - Strong communication and presentation skills, comfortable with both engineering audiences and utility executives - Proficiency in data analysis; experience with grid modeling, DLR, or situational awareness is a plus Preferred: - Direct experience in transmission planning, operations, or grid optimization at a utility or consulting firm - Demonstrated ability to produce external technical content (white papers, conference presentations, IEEE/CIGRE contributions) - Track record of managing multiple customer engagements simultaneously with high autonomy - Familiarity with Dynamic Line Ratings or grid-enhancing technologies
