Snowflake Frontier Engineering is seeking a Solutions Architect to serve as a key technical bridge between the Frontier Engineering practice and customers throughout their journey. This role combines deep platform expertise with consultative sales capabilities, providing hands-on technical leadership during presales cycles while maintaining secondary responsibility for direct customer delivery in strategic engagements.
You will transform complex customer business challenges into compelling, implementable Snowflake solutions and communicate that vision confidently to both technical and executive audiences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary technical resource supporting Frontier Engineering Practice Managers and Directors throughout the full service sales cycle.
- Lead technical discovery sessions, solution design workshops, architecture reviews, and proofs of concept (PoCs) to validate Snowflake's ability to address customer requirements and accelerate deal closure.
- Design end-to-end solution architectures based on Snowflake platform capabilities.
- Create technical scoping deliverables including solution architecture, effort estimation, resource planning, and risk assessment that directly inform Statements of Work (SOWs).
- Build trusted advisor relationships with customer technical stakeholders including Directors, VPs, CTOs, and CDOs.
- Provide technical thought leadership through competitive positioning, addressing technical objections, clarifying value, and identifying expansion opportunities to improve service deal quality and win rates.
- Selectively participate in architect-initiated engagements, short-term architecture validation sprints, or executive-level checkpoint sessions for strategic accounts.
- Contribute to creating reusable solution patterns, reference architectures, sales enablement content, and training materials.
- Provide technical positioning guidance to Practice Managers and customer communication coaching to Technical Architects.
- Deliver structured feedback to Product Management and Engineering on customer requirements, competitive gaps, and emerging market needs.
- Note: This is not a full-time implementation role. Delivery involvement is time-limited and intentional, designed to maintain platform proficiency while strengthening customer relationships built during sales cycles.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in customer-facing technical roles spanning presales and/or postsales consulting, solution architecture, or technical advisory.
- Demonstrated experience working at the intersection of sales and delivery, supporting deal pursuit while executing technical project work.
- Track record designing and presenting enterprise-scale data platform solutions to both technical and executive audiences.
- Proven experience with Japanese business sales cycles (requirements gathering, pre-RFP sales activities, formal RFP processes and responses).
- Practical proficiency in SQL and Python in the context of data analytics, data engineering, or AI/ML solution development.
- Deep understanding of at least one major public cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Experience with Frontier Engineering scoping including effort estimation, solution architecture documentation, and SOW creation.
- Deep understanding of data modeling, ETL/ELT patterns, data governance, and modern data architecture patterns.
- Excellent presentation skills across diverse settings: whiteboard chalk talks, formal pitches, and live demonstrations.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills to build trust with customers, partners, and internal stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience collaborating with Systems Integrators and broader partner ecosystems.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Mathematics, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Native-level Japanese and business-level English proficiency.
- Flexibility to travel to customer sites as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Snowflake or equivalent cloud data platforms in consulting or implementation roles.
- Snowflake SnowPro Core and Advanced certifications.
- Experience in Frontier Engineering organizations at cloud service vendors.
- Industry expertise in key sectors: financial services, healthcare, retail, media, or manufacturing.
- Familiarity with AI/ML lifecycle concepts including model development, deployment, and MLOps practices.
- Experience with data migration methodologies including modernization of legacy platforms (Teradata, Hadoop, Netezza).
- Cloud certifications from AWS, Google, or Microsoft.
