Notion is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build and evolve the iOS platform that powers millions of users. This role focuses on transforming first-generation mobile foundations into a durable, scalable platform that enables engineers and AI agents to ship confidently.
You will own the iOS stack end-to-end, including shared frameworks, build systems, release quality, observability, and CI/CD infrastructure. You'll work across Notion's shared Rust layer and AI infrastructure for mobile development, partnering closely with mobile AI and core product engineers to identify friction points and evaluate new iOS capabilities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Making the iOS platform agent-ready by providing dependable ways to build, run, test, screenshot, and iterate through the app
- Defining how iOS features are built by establishing architecture patterns and shipping developer tools, then partnering with product engineers to drive adoption
- Raising the bar for iOS reliability and release quality through improved systems for regression detection, incident prevention, and issue understanding across builds, tests, observability, and CI/CD
- Establishing platform standards and APIs that product engineers adopt without relying on authority
The role is based in either San Francisco or New York City, with office anchor days on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. You'll work alongside the mobile platform team during these in-person days.
Notion values craft, building things that last, and the belief that great work remains fundamentally human. The company is building a collaborative AI workspace where teams and agents think together, and every engineer is expected to be intellectually curious, comfortable with tinkering and discovery, and excited to use AI as a real collaborator.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Deep iOS engineering experience at scale: demonstrated success building and deploying mobile applications used by millions, with understanding of reliability, performance, and operational practices required at that scale
- Platform or infrastructure experience: hands-on work below the product-feature layer on mobile CI/CD, testing platforms, build systems, developer tooling, or shared frameworks; ability to turn recurring friction into durable systems
- Strong architectural judgment: familiarity with multiple iOS architecture approaches and ability to explain trade-offs clearly, choosing patterns that make features easier to build, test, and maintain
- Cross-functional influence: ability to partner closely with product engineers, understand their pain points, and earn adoption for new platform APIs, workflows, and standards
- AI-native engineering practice: comfort using AI tools and agents as real collaborators, framing tasks clearly, reviewing generated changes, testing behavior, and designing workflows that make the broader team more effective
