It processes millions of payroll transactions across multiple countries, ensuring tax correctness across 4,000+ jurisdictions while maintaining compliance with constantly changing tax regulations.
As a Software Engineer II on the Tax Platform team, you will own complex problems end-to-end, design robust systems, and deliver high-quality solutions that directly impact millions of tax calculations.
Key responsibilities:
- Design & Delivery: Translate business and tax requirements into software designs. Own well-defined features from design through production and understand their impact on customers.
- System Design: Build reliable components of tax systems and partner with senior engineers on broader architectural decisions.
- Tax & Compliance: Build and maintain systems where accuracy and regulatory compliance are critical.
- Collaboration: Work with product managers, engineers, and cross-functional partners to clarify requirements and deliver solutions aligned with business needs.
- Engineering Quality: Write maintainable code and tests, review code, and document designs and test plans.
- Operations: Investigate issues, improve reliability, and help keep tax and compliance systems running smoothly.
- Continuous Learning: Stay current with relevant engineering practices and changes in the tax and compliance domain.
Rippling values in-office collaboration and expects office-based employees (those within a defined radius of a Rippling office) to work in the office at least three days a week.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of professional software development experience
- Proficiency in Python and experience with Django or a similar framework
- Experience designing and building scalable systems or SaaS applications
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to deliver in a fast-paced environment
- Clear communication and the ability to work effectively across teams
