Salary: USD 90,000 - 140,000 / annual

True Anomaly is seeking a Spacecraft Simulation Software Engineer to develop and maintain multi-physics simulation infrastructure for autonomous spacecraft, constellation modeling, and mission software. You will work in an interdisciplinary team to identify, develop, and deliver algorithms for modeling complex coupled physics systems. Key responsibilities include: - Write well-structured, efficient C++ code (C++17/C++20) with emphasis on performance and maintainability - Develop and maintain multi-physics simulation libraries for spacecraft systems including 6DOF rigid body dynamics with environmental perturbations (gravity gradient, solar radiation pressure, atmospheric drag, magnetic torques), thermal modeling (conduction, radiation, solar heating), attitude dynamics and control, propulsion systems, power generation and distribution, and sensor/actuator models - Implement coupled physics algorithms capturing interactions between subsystems (thermal-structural, power-thermal, propulsion-dynamics) - Design and implement time-stepping algorithms, solver architectures, and integration schemes for real-time and faster-than-real-time simulation - Maintain libraries providing APIs in multiple languages (Python, C++) to other internal applications - Collaborate with internal teams leveraging simulation APIs for mission planning, algorithm development, and trade-space analyses - Participate in code reviews, architectural discussions, and sprint planning to maintain software quality standards True Anomaly delivers decisive capabilities for space superiority, building autonomous spacecraft, advanced payloads, mission software, and space-based interceptors to enable the U.S. and its Allies to secure the space environment and counter threats. QUALIFICATIONS: - Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, physics, or similar discipline, or relevant experience - 1-3 years of professional experience in C++ - Experience with Python programming for scripting and prototyping - Strong understanding of object-oriented software development practices - Ability to understand new challenges quickly, formulate plans, and execute - Understanding of complex distributed systems and how components fit into larger systems - Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail - U.S. Citizen and eligible for DoD Secret or TS/SCI clearance - Must be based in or able to commute to Denver or Long Beach office daily PREFERRED SKILLS: - Experience developing physics-based modeling and simulation environments (spacecraft dynamics, thermal systems, control algorithms) - Knowledge of numerical methods: ODE solvers and integration schemes (Runge-Kutta), numerical linear algebra, sparse matrix techniques - Experience with spacecraft subsystems: ADCS, GNC, thermal control, electric power systems, propulsion - Understanding of coordinate frames and transformations (ECI, ECEF, body frame) - Quaternion mathematics and rotation representations - Orbital mechanics and perturbation forces - Model validation, verification, and uncertainty quantification - Version control systems (Git) and CI/CD pipelines
