Affirm's Streaming team is responsible for data infrastructure and event-driven architecture, leveraging technologies like Kafka, Flink, and Schema Registry. As a Software Engineer II, Backend (Streaming), you will work on identifying and executing new use cases for data infrastructure, designing and scaling existing systems, and collaborating with other teams to optimize data usage across the company. You will break down larger projects into individual tasks, deliver them in multiple phases, and collaborate with peers to ensure timely delivery. You'll support the product development lifecycle by working with product management, design, and analytics teams—participating in ideation, articulating technical constraints, and partnering on decisions that balance risks and trade-offs. You will also support operations and availability of your team's systems by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating issues when needed, and participating in on-call rotations. You'll contribute to team culture through growth and development activities, including participation in the interview process. Affirm is a remote-first company with flexibility built in. Most roles can be done from almost anywhere within Canada. New hires will be invited to attend an in-person onboarding experience.
