As a Software Engineer on the Horizon team, you will build the infrastructure and systems that enable long-running AI agents to improve over time and pursue complex business outcomes across multiple channels (voice, SMS, email, etc.) over days, weeks, or months.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building feedback loops, evaluation systems, memory, signals, and decisioning infrastructure that help agents learn from outcomes and improve
- Designing and shipping agents that handle complex business processes across extended timeframes and multiple communication channels
- Identifying patterns from 0-to-1 work and building reusable systems, abstractions, and tools to accelerate future agent launches
- Solving technically complex problems spanning orchestration, integrations, data, memory, signals, decisioning, observability, and multi-channel engagement
- Surfacing platform gaps through hands-on implementation and collaborating with product and engineering to define Horizon's architecture and roadmap
- Translating validated solutions into durable product capabilities and enabling successful handoffs for continued deployment
You will work directly with customers to understand complex business processes and move fluidly between customer problems, product design, and technical implementation.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least two years of professional software engineering experience
- Experience building and scaling end-to-end production systems
- Strong platform and systems engineering fundamentals
- Proficiency with Python, TypeScript, or Go and React
- Strong technical judgment in ambiguous, fast-changing environments
- Builder's mindset with ability to take products from zero to one
- Comfort working directly with customers and understanding complex business processes
- High agency, adaptability, and clear communication
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience as a founder, founding engineer, or early engineer at a startup
- Experience building workflow, orchestration, event-driven, or distributed systems
- Experience developing platforms or reusable infrastructure for other engineers
- Experience building or deploying AI and LLM-powered products
- Familiarity with enterprise integrations, APIs, data pipelines, and systems of record
- Experience working in complex industries such as financial services or healthcare
