Mirage is an AI-native video platform that uses natural language to intelligently orchestrate video production and editing. The platform leverages generative models to execute creative decisions that professional editors would make, improving productivity for experienced teams while democratizing video creation.
As a Backend Software Engineer, you will own critical backend systems end-to-end, partnering closely with product, design, client, and AI teams to build reliable, scalable production systems. You'll work across product, platform, and machine learning infrastructure—designing and building the systems, services, APIs, and ML pipelines that power all product surfaces.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design, build, and own backend systems end-to-end, including services, APIs, data pipelines, and infrastructure powering products
- Solve complex technical challenges across distributed systems, scaling, concurrency, and performance
- Integrate and operate large generative AI models in production—deploying, serving, and scaling systems combining internal research and external capabilities
- Instrument, experiment, and iterate in production to continuously improve system and product quality
- Design and operate core platform infrastructure, including third-party integrations, storage systems, security, and internal APIs

Requirements:
- 5+ years of professional industry experience
- Track record of shipping high-impact systems and/or products in production
- Exceptional problem-solving fundamentals and ability to learn
- Excellent engineering taste combined with strong practicality and time-management
- Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced environments and scope/deliver projects end-to-end
Preferred qualifications:
- Extensive experience with LLMs and generative media models
- Grounded, collaborative approach and willingness to do whatever it takes to help the team win
- Background as a startup founder or early engineer at a startup
