Salary: USD 180,000 - 220,000 / annual

Layer Health, founded in 2023 by leading machine learning researchers from MIT and Harvard Medical School, is building an AI layer to synthesize information from medical records and reduce friction across healthcare. The company's LLM-powered platform solves chart review at scale, with the first product accelerating clinical registry abstraction across surgery, cardiology, oncology, and other specialties. The founding team brings expertise in machine learning, UI/UX, large language models, and medicine. You will join as an early engineer at this seed-stage company and own end-to-end development of new features and product experiences for Layer Health's internal and customer-facing applications. You will design, build, and maintain scalable and performant APIs and web applications; speak directly with customers to understand their needs and design solutions; collaborate cross-functionally to design and ship new product features; help cultivate a robust engineering and product culture; and work closely with the team to design highly scalable, fast, and secure applications deployed in critical healthcare environments. This is a product-minded role that values both technical depth and customer empathy. You will have significant ownership and the opportunity to shape the direction of the platform alongside a talented founding team. REQUIREMENTS: - 7+ years of experience in full stack software development, with ability and flexibility to traverse the stack when necessary - Fluency in TypeScript, React, and modern web technologies (company uses React) - Fluency in one or more backend languages (company uses Python) - Strong communicator who thrives in customer-focused, fast-paced environments - Proactive problem-solver with strong sense of ownership and ability to work independently - Excited and adaptable team player motivated to disrupt healthcare with AI/ML - Based in or willing to relocate to Boston area; regular in-person meetings in Boston required (Boston, NYC, or East Coast candidates welcome)
