Salary: USD 100,000 - 130,000 / annual

iCapital is seeking a Backend Software Engineer at Assistant Vice President level to design, build, and operate services that power the iCapital platform. You will collaborate with engineers, product managers, and technical partners throughout the development lifecycle. The role focuses on backend service development using a service-oriented architecture. The platform primarily uses Scala, Ruby, and Python, though prior experience with these languages is not required—strong engineering fundamentals and the ability to learn new technologies are valued. Key responsibilities include: • Design, build, test, deploy, and maintain cloud-based services and APIs • Translate product and business needs into practical technical solutions • Own projects from design through production rollout and ongoing support • Write maintainable code and contribute to technical design decisions • Participate in code reviews and improve engineering standards • Build testing, observability, security, and operational readiness into services • Use AI-assisted development tools responsibly to improve delivery, investigation, and learning The role is hybrid: in-office Monday–Thursday with flexibility to work remotely on Friday. Qualifications: • 6+ years experience with a modern programming language such as Ruby, Scala, Python, Java, or TypeScript • 4+ years experience building or integrating with APIs and backend services • Knowledge of relational or NoSQL databases and data modeling • Familiarity with automated testing, version control, and modern software delivery practices • Understanding of cloud application development and distributed systems • Strong problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills • Experience using AI-assisted development tools to plan work, refine specifications, delegate tasks, and validate implementation quality
