Sierra is a leading platform for customer-facing AI agents, serving major brands including The GAP, Rocket Mortgage, SoFi, Sutter Health, and SoftBank. The company was founded by Bret Taylor (former Salesforce co-CEO, Facebook CTO, Google Maps co-creator) and Clay Bavor (former Google Labs lead, AR/VR pioneer).
The Travel, Transportation and Hospitality (TTH) team supports some of the world's largest airlines, hotel chains, rental car brands, cruise lines, and travel tech companies. The team is small and scrappy, with engineers who think like product leaders, PMs who prototype, and strategists who own agents end-to-end.
In this role, you will:
- Design and deliver production-grade AI agents that are mission-critical and drive revenue. These are not prototypes but powerful, scalable systems running in production across industries like finance, healthcare, and commerce.
- Drive the Agent Development Life Cycle (ADLC) with complete ownership from initial pilot through deployment and continuous iteration. You'll define best practices for building, tuning, and evolving AI agents in production.
- Partner directly with leaders at major enterprises and cutting-edge startups to understand their business challenges and build AI agents that transform operations at scale.
- Shape Sierra's platform evolution by surfacing unmet customer needs, prototyping new tools and features, and collaborating with research, product, and platform teams.
Recent example projects include: building multimodal voice experiences embedded in mobile apps; shipping complex booking flows with map integration and recommendation engines; modernizing legacy reservations systems with Sierra packages; and expanding platform integrations with new capabilities like MCP UI support.
REQUIREMENTS:
Must-have:
- Experience building and scaling end-to-end production systems
- Strong technical problem-solving skills in fast-changing, ambiguous environments
- Builder and tinkerer's mindset with high agency
- Comfort working directly with customers to understand needs and solve real-world problems
- Excellent communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences
- Genuine interest in the travel space and improving guest experiences
Nice-to-have:
- Professional fluency in Spanish and English
- Experience building or deploying AI/LLM systems in production
- Founder or founding engineer background
- Familiarity with eval frameworks, agent tooling, RAG pipelines, and prompt engineering
- Experience with React, TypeScript, and/or Go
- Prior customer-facing or technical project leadership roles with external stakeholders
