Sierra is a customer-facing AI agent platform serving major brands including The GAP, Rocket Mortgage, SoFi, Sutter Health, and SoftBank. The company is headquartered in San Francisco with offices across North America, Europe, and Asia.
In this role, you will build core systems powering Sierra's agent platform. Your responsibilities include:
- Developing the Agent SDK, including the orchestration engine, runtime, and primitives that define how agents reason, take actions, and interact with users and systems.
- Designing the agentic loop by defining primitives needed for agents that are steerable and verifiable while remaining conversational and adaptive.
- Improving retrieval and grounding systems to ensure agents provide accurate, trustworthy responses through effective knowledge retrieval and use.
- Building evaluation frameworks that allow Sierra and its customers to measure and improve agent quality over time.

REQUIREMENTS:
- 4+ years of hands-on experience building production products and systems
- Strong software engineering fundamentals
- Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent professional experience
- Passion for frontier AI products and high agency to drive outcomes
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience building AI-powered systems or agent frameworks
- Experience with retrieval systems, evaluation systems, or LLM-based applications
- Experience building developer platforms or SDKs
- Proficiency with Go and TypeScript
