Second Front Systems is seeking a technically fluent SOC Manager to lead and architect their Security Operations Center function. You will own SOC strategy and execution, architecting modern defensive capabilities across cloud-native infrastructure while operating at the intersection of defense tech and national security. Key responsibilities include architecting SOC strategy and roadmap with threat intelligence operations and detection frameworks; building and tuning detection logic across cloud stacks, identity layers, and endpoints; owning incident command and leading containment/recovery operations while driving engineering change through post-mortems; governing the defensive stack (SIEM, EDR, automated playbooks); establishing proactive threat hunting programs; synchronizing security controls with engineering and product teams; mentoring and scaling a high-performing security operations team; and optimizing vendor and MDR relationships. You will partner across engineering, product, and IT leadership, translating technical risk into clear recommendations that advance defensive maturity. The role requires deep expertise in cloud-native environments (AWS, Kubernetes, containerized workload defense), modern SOC functions (SIEM architecture, EDR deployment, incident response frameworks), and compliance frameworks (FedRAMP, DoD SRG, CMMC). You should have 8+ years in cyber operations and incident response with minimum 3 years leading high-agency security operations teams. Hands-on scripting and automation skills (Python, Terraform, SOAR playbooks) are essential. This is a full-time position with comprehensive benefits including 100% employer-paid medical/dental/vision, 401(k) with 3% match, equity awards, professional development stipend, flexible PTO, and parental leave. Candidates must reside in one of the approved hiring hubs: DC/Maryland/Virginia, Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill NC, Denver/Colorado Springs CO, or Dallas/Fort Worth TX.
