Salary: USD 66,000 - 80,000 / annual

May Mobility is a venture-backed autonomous vehicle company based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, developing and deploying self-driving vehicles powered by proprietary Multi-Policy Decision Making (MPDM) technology. The company has delivered over 500,000 autonomous rides globally since 2017 and is expanding operations across multiple sites. The Site Autonomy Engineer will serve as the hands-on technical lead for autonomous vehicle operations at a designated deployment location. This role bridges hardware, software, and field operations, ensuring fleet readiness, safety compliance, and successful autonomous operation in real-world conditions. Key Responsibilities: - Coordinate and implement vehicle upfits, hardware upgrades, and fleet modifications - Debug and resolve electrical and mechanical issues on autonomous vehicles - Execute on-site sensor calibrations and feature testing - Build and maintain local mapping assets required for autonomous operation - Perform preventative maintenance and ensure vehicles meet safety standards before return to service - Conduct on-site testing of autonomous operation to verify safety and rider comfort - Perform data acquisition using vehicle sensor suites - Record issues, track resolutions, and escalate problems through proper channels - Communicate technical findings and successes to the engineering team - Assist with fleet cleanliness, demo readiness, and site configuration - Support deployment and configuration of autonomous technology at designated locations The role requires flexibility to work weekends, early mornings, evenings, and holidays to align with site operating hours. Travel is minimal (0-10%). Physical demands include lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for extended periods, climbing ladders occasionally, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions. Requirements: - Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience - Proficiency in Linux and computing environments - Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics - Knowledge of wire harnesses and basic mechanical subsystems - Demonstrated ability to debug and modify mechanical and electrical systems - Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for mechanical and electrical systems - Systems-level thinking and problem-solving approach - Experience with Git, GitHub, or GitLab (or ability to learn quickly) - Valid U.S. Driver's License - Safety-first mindset and approach to all work - Excellent written and verbal communication skills - Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities - Ability to multitask and adapt to shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment - Passion for autonomous vehicles and their societal impact
