Pendulum is a biotech company revolutionizing human health by understanding and restoring the microbiome. The company has developed proprietary probiotic pipelines, a discovery platform for identifying novel bacterial strains, and world-first anaerobic manufacturing technology for producing bacteria at scale. Pendulum's medical probiotics have transformed the consumer probiotics market and the company recently earned a spot on Forbes' "The Next Billion Dollar Startups" list.
As a Senior Research Associate on the Product Development team, you will carry significant responsibility across fermentation operations and flow cytometry workflows. You will independently operate DASGIP bioreactor systems for anaerobic probiotic strain fermentation, including sterile setup, inoculation, and process monitoring. You will lead and manage design of experiments for anaerobic fermentation, run and analyze flow cytometry assays supporting strain quality control and process development across multiple concurrent projects, and become a subject matter expert in flow cytometry.
Your work will directly support improvements to current products as well as the development of new products. You will execute rigorous aseptic and anaerobic technique across fermentation and general microbiology work, manage and organize assay workflows, draft protocols, and support day-to-day lab operations. You will work with cross-disciplinary teams on experimental design, execution, and data analysis, and keep up-to-date on current scientific literature related to microbiology.
The role is ideal for someone energized by the pace and possibility of a fast-growing, mission-driven company who thrives in a collaborative, nimble environment. You should be a creative problem-solver who knows how to make things happen with limited resources and is passionate about building something with purpose.
