Lumilens is building photonics infrastructure for AI supercomputing, developing chip-to-chip optical interconnects and scalable photonic engines. The company is Series B-funded and led by industry veterans.
As Senior Industrial Engineer, you will lead production optimization and manufacturing excellence for advanced photonics manufacturing. You'll oversee production line setup, layout design, and capacity planning to maximize efficiency and throughput. Your responsibilities include analyzing workflows to eliminate bottlenecks, conducting time and motion studies to establish labor standards, and implementing Lean manufacturing methodologies (5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping) to drive continuous improvement.
You will design and optimize factory layouts using CAD/AutoCAD, ensuring optimal material flow from raw goods receipt through shipping while minimizing handling steps and product damage. You'll manage quality and cost control by monitoring defect rates, leading root-cause investigations, tracking production costs against budgets, and justifying capital expenditures for new machinery and equipment.
Safety and ergonomics are core to the role: you'll assess workstations, apply ergonomic principles to prevent repetitive strain injuries, and ensure OSHA compliance across automated machinery cells and production areas. You'll collaborate cross-functionally to implement process improvements and regularly analyze production data to identify efficiency opportunities.
The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or related field, with at least 5 years of experience preferably in semiconductor, optoelectronics, or volume engineering. You should have proven expertise in production line setup, capacity planning, resource management, CAD/AutoCAD proficiency, workflow optimization, time/motion studies, Lean tool implementation, production cost tracking, CapEx justification, ergonomic best practices, and OSHA compliance. Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork abilities are essential.
