Binti is a Series B, mission-driven software company reinventing child welfare and social services for state and county government agencies. The company has helped approve over 100,000 families to foster or adopt and supports 49% of the nation's child welfare system. Based in San Francisco with ~90 employees, Binti is backed by Founders Fund, First Round Capital, and Kapor Capital.
As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will design, build, and maintain Binti's cloud infrastructure to support rapid scaling and reliability. You'll work closely with development teams to ensure systems are efficient, secure, and performant as the company grows.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and implement infrastructure as code using Pulumi and TypeScript to manage cloud resources efficiently
- Manage and optimize Kubernetes clusters using Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) for application deployment, scaling, and monitoring
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using BuildKite to automate testing, building, and deployment processes
- Set up and manage monitoring, logging, and alerting systems using Honeycomb and Google Cloud Logging
- Collaborate with development teams to understand infrastructure needs and provide effective solutions
- Plan and execute strategies for scaling infrastructure to meet growing demand and ensure high availability
- Optimize cloud resource usage to control costs while maintaining performance and reliability
- Develop and test disaster recovery and backup procedures to ensure business continuity
- Automate repetitive tasks and processes to improve operational efficiency
- Document infrastructure configurations and procedures
- Participate in on-call rotations during working hours to support production systems
- Stay current with latest DevOps technologies and trends
The role is hybrid, with in-person office days on Mondays and Thursdays at the San Francisco headquarters. Much of the team works locally to the Bay Area.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Proven experience with infrastructure as code, ideally using Pulumi
- Proficiency in TypeScript for writing and maintaining infrastructure code
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, including cluster management and orchestration
- Strong knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
- Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker
- Experience with CI/CD tools like BuildKite, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or CircleCI
- Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools such as Honeycomb, Prometheus, Grafana, or the ELK stack
- Understanding of networking concepts and security best practices in cloud environments
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment and manage multiple priorities
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams
- Authorization to work in the US without sponsorship
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with Pulumi, GKE, TypeScript, BuildKite, and Honeycomb
- Experience implementing security best practices to ensure compliance across infrastructure
- Experience with database management and optimization
- Experience scaling Ruby on Rails applications
- Scripting skills in languages like Ruby, Python, and Bash
