OpenAI's Real Estate & Workplace (REW) team is seeking an experienced Senior Workplace Operations Manager to lead workplace operations and employee experience across OpenAI's growing presence in India, with primary focus on Mumbai, New Delhi, and Bangalore.
In this senior individual-contributor role reporting to the Head of Workplace, JAPAC, you will set the operational direction and define the workplace operating model for India. You'll translate business and employee needs into a scalable, AI-native operating model while maintaining strategic planning, senior stakeholder partnership, and day-to-day execution in a fast-changing environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Establish and own the country-wide workplace operating model, service quality standards, and employee experience across all India locations
- Ensure workplaces remain safe, reliable, welcoming, and operationally ready for employees, visitors, and business priorities
- Manage integrated facilities-management governance, service standards, SLAs, KPIs, and vendor accountability
- Partner strategically with India business leaders and regional REW leadership to anticipate emerging needs
- Own country-level operating budgets, forecasting, resource prioritization, and vendor spend management
- Lead operational readiness for office openings, expansions, renovations, and post-occupancy stabilization
- Oversee workplace safety, facilities compliance, emergency preparedness, and business continuity governance
- Define and improve scalable playbooks, standard operating procedures, and reporting across sites
- Establish service KPIs and use workplace data and employee feedback to inform decisions
- Coordinate cross-functional initiatives with Workplace Experience, Food, Security, IT, People, Finance, and Procurement
- Provide senior operational leadership during incidents and drive timely resolution
- Advance AI-native workplace practices through practical automation and lightweight tools
Required qualifications:
- 8+ years in workplace, facilities, corporate real estate, or hospitality operations, including multi-site environments
- Demonstrated independent leadership of workplace/facilities operations across multiple India locations
- Proven management of integrated facilities-management providers and vendors with SLA accountability
- Ownership of country-level operating budgets and procurement processes
- Working knowledge of workplace safety, emergency preparedness, and India facilities compliance
- Strong track record influencing business leaders and executives without formal authority
- Excellent project and change-management skills across concurrent workstreams
- Systems mindset with ability to turn recurring problems into clear processes and standards
- Clear, proactive communication of operational risks and trade-offs
- Senior-level independent ownership and sound risk judgment
- Ability to thrive in high-growth, fast-changing environments
- Willingness to work onsite 5 days/week with regular travel among Mumbai, New Delhi, and Bangalore
- Preferred: experience in high-growth global technology companies
