Okta is seeking a Senior UX Researcher to join its globally distributed research and design team in Bengaluru, India. You will shape customer experiences across the Access Management ecosystem, focusing on securing workforce access from device bootup through frictionless, phishing-resistant, and passwordless authentication across macOS, Windows, Linux, iOS, and Android platforms.
In this role, you will lead end-to-end research initiatives, translating ambiguous product questions into actionable insights that directly influence long-term strategy and near-term product decisions across global Engineering, Product, and Design teams. You will own the UX research strategy for Access Management in India and act as a foundational builder for regional research operations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Scope, prioritize, and execute generative and evaluative research, aligning cross-border roadmaps with high-priority business goals across multiple OS platforms
- Build and manage a dedicated panel of user personas, ensuring direct access to critical users and cultivating deep customer empathy
- Champion the secure use of AI tools to automate recurring work such as transcript synthesis, feedback classification, and qualitative coding
- Empower cross-functional partners in Product, Design, and Engineering to run high-quality evaluative studies through training frameworks, templates, and workflows
- Apply mixed methodologies including contextual inquiry, usability testing, surveys, and quantitative analysis suited to fast-paced product timelines and complex security domains
- Collaborate deeply with EPD teams across time zones, synthesizing complex data into compelling stories and actionable recommendations for executive stakeholders
You will join an AI-first team of researchers and designers supported by leadership that fosters high autonomy, deep ownership, and a strong culture of craft. You will balance functional, foundational research with generative explorations that help frame new security and identity paradigms in an evolving technical problem space.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 4+ years of product development experience conducting UX research in enterprise/B2B product environments, OR a Master's degree/PhD in HCI, Psychology, Anthropology, Sociology, or related field with 2+ years of experience
- Demonstrated track record of conducting user research within complex, highly technical B2B, enterprise, security, or developer-facing domains
- Ability to translate business goals and technical ambiguity into structured research plans independently while managing competing priorities across multiple product streams
- Curiosity and active experience incorporating AI tools into research workflow (e.g., automated transcript synthesis, qualitative coding, prompt engineering)
- Proven success working effectively within globally distributed teams, with exceptional written and asynchronous communication skills across overlapping US/APAC working hours
- Ability to connect user insights directly to business metrics, product adoption, and technical feasibility
- Digital portfolio or case study deck demonstrating end-to-end research ownership, complex technical problem spaces, generative and evaluative methodologies, and measurable business/product impact
- Experience researching desktop and mobile applications across macOS, Windows, iOS, or Android environments
- Background in identity, access management, cybersecurity, or enterprise IT admin tools is a strong plus
