CesiumAstro develops communication systems for satellites, UAVs, launch vehicles, and other space and airborne platforms. We are seeking a Senior Test Engineer to join our technical team and lead the design, analysis, and implementation of engineering test plans and procedures for board-level electronics products, including power, digital, and RF electronics. In this role, you will architect test systems and serve as a core member of our Test Engineering group. You will be responsible for developing test architectures including equipment selection, test fixtures, data logging methodology, and interfaces. You will design and execute tests at prototype, qualification, and acceptance stages, and develop test requirements for new products. Key responsibilities include designing tests for compliance with standards such as NASA GEVS (GSFC-STD-7000), planning and executing board-level verification tests (high-speed signal integrity, digital link characterization, power supply performance, temperature performance), and designing systems for testing complex integrated hardware and software such as phased array products combining radios, computers, and antennas. You will develop modular, reusable test and automation software in Python or similar languages for a variety of test applications. This includes creating software for interfacing with flight hardware and test equipment in flexible, abstract ways that can be quickly implemented across test campaigns, developing methods to store and access generated data, and building software tools to support ambitious testing goals. You will advise the design engineering team on design-for-testability (DFT), evaluate and document test results for stakeholders, and contribute to continuous improvement of in-house tools and documentation. You will also train technicians and operators, contribute to lab buildout and management, and present engineering design review materials to customers and executives. As a Senior Test Engineer, you will be distinguished by your ability to architect test systems, draw insightful conclusions from test results, and participate in design-for-test planning from early product development stages. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, as you will present to leadership and participate in proposal-writing efforts. REQUIREMENTS: - Bachelor of Science (BS) or higher degree in Electrical Engineering or similar from an accredited university - Minimum 5 years of industry or university research experience in design, analysis, and implementation of electronic products and/or test systems - Experience designing and executing test plans for custom board-level electronics - Hands-on experience with lab instruments such as digital oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, RF signal generators, and vector signal analyzers - Programming or scripting experience in Python, LabVIEW, SQL, MATLAB, or Embedded C - Excellent written and verbal communication skills - Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, conditional resident, asylee, or refugee, or eligible to obtain required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: - Experience working in version-controlled environments (Git or SVN) - Knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems, VLANs, and network security - Experience developing graphical user interfaces for production environments - Extensive knowledge of digital and analog interfaces including GPIB, USB, VISA, TCP/IP, VLAN, CAN bus, SPI, I2C, and analog-to-digital conversion - Experience programming test equipment using SCPI
