Orbital Operations builds high-thrust, space-resident vehicles for defense and logistics. The company's flagship product, Astraeus, is a reusable orbital vehicle powered by Typhon, a proprietary LH2/LOx engine, and enabled by Boreas, a cryogenic propellant management system. This technology delivers 100x higher thrust and 10x greater range than existing systems, enabling sustained, high-energy maneuver in geosynchronous and cislunar orbits.
As the company's first dedicated Technical Program Manager, you will own end-to-end execution of funded government programs from kickoff through delivery. You are responsible for cost, schedule, risk management, and all government deliverables. This is a foundational role with significant autonomy—you will build the scheduling, risk, and reporting infrastructure that the program management function grows from, establishing templates and cadences that become company standards.
The role is intentionally technical. You will sit in design reviews, understand technical tradeoffs in cryogenic orbital vehicle engineering, and be credible in discussions with both internal engineers and government customers. While engineers author technical work and own technical decisions, you synthesize their findings into program-level status, connect technical progress to cost and schedule, and manage programmatic risk. You work embedded with engineering, mission operations, and leadership, translating between technical work and contractual commitments.
Key responsibilities include program execution (cost, schedule, risk, deliverables), building program infrastructure and processes, technical collaboration and synthesis, stakeholder management with government customers, and risk identification and mitigation. Strong performance positions you to lead the program management function as it scales.
