Salary: USD 179,000 - 210,000 / annual
Airbnb is seeking a Senior Technical Program Manager for the Payments team to drive complex, cross-functional initiatives across the global payments infrastructure. The Payments organization handles billions of dollars in transactions across 191 countries and 75 currencies through a sophisticated ecosystem of payment partners and internal systems.
In this role, you will partner with multiple technical teams including Payments Platform, Compliance & Operations, Payments Engineering Services, and Payments Data Engineering to deliver reliable systems that enable guests and hosts to make and receive payments seamlessly. You will manage large-scale programs spanning multiple services and teams, serving as a force multiplier to improve quality and velocity of work across the organization.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing program scope and objectives in collaboration with stakeholders, ensuring technical feasibility and driving projects end-to-end
- Aligning on staffing, priorities, and technical dependencies across Payments and cross-functional teams during quarterly planning and ongoing risk management
- Managing technical design diligence for large programs, tracking dependencies, scheduling reviews, and engaging stakeholders
- Communicating key decisions, status, and risks to leadership and teams to ensure accountability and timeline management
- Driving process improvements and identifying new ways of operating with focus on simplification and productivity
- Leading org-wide and company-wide technical initiatives as the platform evolves to scale
- Providing visibility into KPIs so leaders understand risks and opportunities
You will work in a highly cross-functional environment where clear communication with multiple groups is essential. The role requires someone who can bring clarity from chaos, dive into details, and influence stakeholders with data and vision.
Requirements:
- BA/BS degree
- 7+ years of experience in the software development industry
- Experience developing processes where few exist and demonstrated flexibility to execute
- Ability to work through ambiguity to detailed solutions; can frame vague problems crisply and drive initiatives to completion
- Good understanding of software engineering principles and proven ability to work in distributed architecture environments
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to adapt to teams with different operating cadences
- Detail-oriented with ability to understand the bigger picture using technical expertise and problem-solving
- Experience in highly cross-functional environments requiring communication across multiple groups
- Ability to ramp up quickly and learn new technologies with minimal lag time
- Excellent written and oral business communication and people skills with ability to influence stakeholders
- Knowledge of Jira or equivalent task management tooling
