Pencil is building an operating system for AI-powered marketing — a SaaS platform using generative AI to help the world's biggest brands plan, produce, and deploy advertising at scale. The Senior Technical Program Manager is a hands-on individual contributor role that owns program management across a defined portfolio within the product and engineering organization.
This is a craft role focused on rigor and structure rather than people management. You will own workback plans, dependency maps, and operating cadences that keep major initiatives — platform releases, integrations, and cross-team engineering efforts — on track and visible. You report to the Principal Technical Program Manager and partner closely with engineering leads and product managers.
Key responsibilities include establishing operating rhythms and decision-making cadences; owning workback plans and dependency maps for your program portfolio; maintaining project visibility surfaces (e.g., Linear) that teams trust without requiring verbal check-ins; running end-to-end multi-team programs from scope through delivery; managing cross-team blockers and seams; applying escalation frameworks to surface risk early; supporting OKR tracking and reporting; and producing weekly written status updates for leadership.
You will not manage people, make technical decisions, or own product priorities — those remain with engineering leadership and product managers. Instead, you provide the structure that keeps a fast-moving AI-native engineering team aligned and coherent.
The role is remote, based in EMEA, with regular overlap expected with the London hub. You'll work in a high-growth scale-up environment where the TPM discipline is still being shaped, offering opportunity to influence templates, cadences, and norms.
