Salary: USD 133,000 - 166,000 / annual
Ursa Major Technologies is revolutionizing aerospace and defense by delivering high-performance propulsion systems—from hypersonics to solid rocket motors and satellite maneuvering—that address critical national security demands.
You will serve as a central technical member of the systems engineering team, taking immediate ownership of spacecraft propulsion systems engineering. This role spans the full product lifecycle, from initial concept through production-ready design, with responsibility for requirements development, verification, validation, system architecture, and failure mode analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support responsible engineers across all in-space components and systems in defining, verifying, and maintaining requirements; ensure the right set of requirements is established and tracked through product development and qualification
- Create and manage systems engineering tools and processes
- Coordinate with analysis and test teams on planning and execution of verification activities to ensure requirement coverage and compliance
- Support planning and execution of acceptance and qualification test campaigns
- Contribute to and participate in program reviews and design reviews throughout program lifecycles
- Support reliability, failure modes, and risk assessments for major programs
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to systems engineering associates
- Serve as primary engineering point of contact with the mission assurance group for identification and resolution of risks and opportunities
- Work alongside system designers to ensure compliance with range safety requirements (SSCMAN 91-710) and other industry standards
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in aerospace system design, project management, or related system-level roles
- Familiarity with industry standard requirements documents such as MIL-STD-1522, RTCA/DO-178, MIL-STD-810, SSCMAN 91-710, AIAA-S080, SMC-S-016, etc.
- Familiarity with requirements management tools such as DOORS or JAMA
- Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident)
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance
