Relativity Space is building Terran R, a next-generation orbital launch vehicle designed to meet growing demand for reliable, frequent access to space. The company combines advanced 3D printing manufacturing with aerospace engineering to accelerate rocket development and production.
The Reliability team ensures quality is embedded throughout the Terran R design and production lifecycle. As the program transitions from development into scaled production, the team establishes processes, controls, and inspections that balance speed with safety—a critical phase where early decisions shape long-term operational success.
In this Senior Supplier Development Engineer role, you will serve as the technical point of contact for rocket components and assemblies, managing the supplier ecosystem that feeds Terran R production. Key responsibilities include:
• Lead new product introduction by selecting manufacturing methods, identifying qualified suppliers, and developing scalable production processes
• Conduct design-for-manufacturing (DFM) reviews and apply APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) principles from early development through production
• Manage supplier sourcing, evaluations, and corrective actions; ensure compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, and NASA quality standards
• Resolve manufacturing and quality issues to protect production schedules, serving as the technical escalation point
• Create specifications and quality requirements that communicate expectations across the supply base
• Lead root cause investigations (8D, PPAP, FAIR) and implement corrective actions to improve supplier performance
• Analyze defect data and drive continuous improvement in supplier quality metrics
