Veza, now part of ServiceNow, is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer (Tech Lead) to lead the Integrations team. This role is central to Veza's identity security platform—the Integrations team builds services that ingest data from external systems (AWS, Okta, GCP, Azure, Box, Hashicorp, Databricks, and others) into Veza's Access Graph platform, enabling advanced identity governance and access management features.
You will design and develop high-performance, scalable integrations with major cloud and SaaS platforms, translating each system's unique access relationships into Veza's data model. You'll lead a team of backend engineers, mentoring them and driving technical direction for assigned projects. You'll define architecture, design patterns, and best practices—including leveraging AI/ML models to streamline integration development and enable scalable connector onboarding.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design, develop, and build integrations ensuring high performance, scalability, and reliability
- Lead and mentor a team of backend software engineers
- Drive technical direction, architecture decisions, and adoption of AI/ML for integration workflows
- Partner with Product, Solutions Engineering, Support, and customers to translate requirements into connector designs and prioritize the integration roadmap
- Work cross-functionally with other engineering teams to enable consumption of integration data
This is a hybrid role requiring 3 days per week in the Redwood City office.
Requirements:
- Minimum 12 years of related experience, OR an advanced degree with 8 years in backend software development, with focus on data modeling, management, identity, security, or related areas
- Experience leveraging or critically thinking about how to integrate AI into work processes, decision-making, or problem-solving
- Strong proficiency in one or more programming languages (Golang, Java preferred)
- Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs and microservices architectures
- Experience in optimization, database/storage layer design, or distributed systems
- Experience building pluggable, modular software with code decoupling
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform)
- Knowledge of database technologies (SQL and NoSQL), caching mechanisms, and distributed systems
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for technical and non-technical audiences
