Sila Nanotechnologies is a next-generation battery materials company on a mission to power the world's transition to clean energy. They engineer and manufacture breakthrough lithium-ion battery materials that increase energy density while reducing size and weight, enabling smaller, more powerful batteries for consumer devices and electric vehicles. You will serve as a visionary Senior Staff Quality Engineer with deep expertise in regulated Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001, IATF 16949, AS9100, or GMP). This is a strategic individual contributor role focused on manufacturing excellence, quality governance, and cross-functional leadership. Key responsibilities include: **Problem Solving & Investigation:** Lead root cause analysis (RCA) as a subject matter expert, owning end-to-end stewardship of major manufacturing quality events. Serve as the core Quality partner for R&D and new product introduction (NPI) teams, managing feedback loops to transition new products and processes into stable, high-yield manufacturing. **Operational Quality & Data Governance:** Oversee Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Statistical Quality Control (SQC) frameworks, leveraging data reviews to proactively optimize manufacturing yield. Partner with Manufacturing Process Engineering, Equipment Engineering, Quality Control, and Operations teams to lead Material Review Board (MRB) dispositions and align daily production with quality standards. **Manufacturing Excellence:** Establish systematic manufacturing floor walks and process audits to identify risks early. Lead continuous improvement projects to streamline manufacturing and QC systems/workflows, balancing strict compliance with operational throughput to maximize quality yield. **QMS & Compliance Leadership:** Execute internal audit programs and lead readiness efforts for external quality certification and surveillance audits. Track and report key quality performance metrics while driving quality culture and QMS awareness training to manufacturing teams. You are an analytical problem-solver who thrives on the manufacturing floor, champions the Quality Management System, and excels at identifying root causes and preventing recurrence. You are a natural collaborator who speaks the language of different teams—tolerances with Equipment Engineers, process capability with Process Engineering, data with Quality Control, and operational demands with Operations. You balance high quality standards with practical understanding of manufacturing throughput. Minimum 10 years of quality engineering experience in an established QMS environment. Deep background in material or chemical manufacturing operations is highly preferred. Advanced proficiency in data-driven RCA tools (8D, 5 Whys, FMEA, SPC), demonstrated expertise with ISO 9001 and/or IATF 16949, and strong working knowledge of advanced statistical software (JMP or Hex) are essential. Proven skill in leading cross-functional meetings, mediating conflicts, building consensus, and mentoring junior staff on quality principles and QMS procedures.
