CesiumAstro is seeking a Senior Staff Electrical Engineer to lead the architecture, design, and integration of the FlatSat environment—a comprehensive ground-based testbed that replicates flight hardware, avionics, software, and ground interfaces for satellite and airborne platforms. In this role, you will define the FlatSat system architecture and roadmap, ensuring it accurately represents mission configurations and operational scenarios. You will develop system-level integration plans spanning flight hardware, avionics, software, and ground interfaces, and establish infrastructure to support full mission simulations and end-to-end testing. Key responsibilities include designing and building custom Ground Support Equipment (GSE) and test interfaces, overseeing mechanical, electrical, and network integration, and defining power, communications, data handling, and environmental support architecture. You will plan and execute system integration campaigns, coordinate across flight software, hardware, RF, payload, and ground teams, and enable regression testing, mission rehearsals, anomaly reproduction, and validation testing. Additional duties include driving configuration management and documentation discipline, establishing procedures for safe operations and hardware handling, managing upgrades and configuration changes as flight hardware evolves, tracking risks and integration issues, and supporting design reviews, test readiness reviews, and mission readiness reviews. This is a hands-on, technical leadership role in a dynamic, cross-functional environment where you will have significant autonomy and the opportunity to shape critical infrastructure for space and airborne systems. REQUIREMENTS: - Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field - 15 years of experience in spacecraft integration, systems engineering, or hardware/software test environments - Hands-on experience working with satellite subsystems and avionics - Strong understanding of spacecraft power, communications, command & data handling, and ground interfaces - Experience designing or supporting hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) or integration testbeds - Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and system diagrams - Proven ability to operate in fast-paced, evolving technical environments PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: - Experience leading integration efforts for small satellite or spacecraft programs - Experience designing custom GSE - Familiarity with flatsat or spacecraft system test campaigns, including Hardware-in-the-Loop labs (HIL/HWIL) - Knowledge of RF and payload integration - Experience supporting environmental test or mission rehearsals - Background in high-reliability or mission-critical systems NOTE: Applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, conditional resident, asylee, or refugee, or eligible to obtain required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State per U.S. Government Space Technology Export Regulations.
