Carbon is seeking a Senior Software Operations Coordinator to own the operational backbone of the Software organization. This role serves as the connective tissue across the engineering team, ensuring reliable releases, healthy on-call rotations, and smooth onboarding processes.
You will report to the Head of Software and work alongside engineers, engineering managers, support, and finance partners. This is explicitly a coordinator role, not program management—you own outcomes for operational processes while maintaining standing authority to act on routine work without becoming a bottleneck.
Key responsibilities include:
- Running the software release process end-to-end, coordinating across engineering while letting technical decisions remain with engineers
- Managing on-call rotations and recurring assignments, including swaps, coverage gaps, and fair distribution
- Owning account and access management across SaaS tools, internal systems, and cloud IAM for new hires and departures
- Managing vendor and third-party relationships, including SaaS subscription renewals and escalation contacts
- Triaging support tickets, resolving operational issues, and liaising between Support and Engineering
As the role grows, you may take on onboarding/offboarding logistics, license and seat tracking, cloud cost stewardship, access reviews, internal tools administration (Jira, GitHub, Slack), runbook maintenance, incident coordination, procurement liaison work, and team health reporting.
Required qualifications:
- 5+ years in software operations, technical program coordination, IT operations, developer experience, or similar role supporting engineering teams
- Strong ownership mentality; you track items to completion and close loops proactively
- Clear written and verbal communication skills for coordination across engineers, support, vendors, and finance
- Comfort with modern software tools: Jira or similar trackers, GitHub, Slack, SaaS admin consoles, cloud IAM basics, and on-call schedulers like PagerDuty
- Good judgment about when to act independently versus escalate
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
Nice-to-have skills include experience coordinating software releases or on-call rotations, familiarity with SOC 2 or similar compliance processes, and exposure to cloud cost reporting or vendor procurement workflows.
