Aalyria is a technology company specializing in laser communications and software-defined networking platforms for the aerospace industry. The company, which acquired technology from Google, focuses on satellite and airborne mesh networks, cislunar and deep-space communications, and orchestration of planetary mesh networks across land, sea, air, and space.
As a Senior Software Engineer on the Spacetime team, you will design and build simulation and planning capabilities that enable customers to explore hypothetical network scenarios before committing to real-world changes. You'll develop tools that allow users to vary network configurations, conditions, and assumptions while evaluating their potential effects. Your work will include building systems for comparing scenarios, understanding tradeoffs, identifying risks and opportunities, and developing scalable, reliable infrastructure for managing complex scenarios.
The role involves tackling hard problems in distributed systems, algorithms, network modeling, and large-scale computation. You'll work on a small, highly collaborative team with broad ownership, designing, building, testing, and operating capabilities end-to-end with real influence over both what gets built and how it's built. You'll collaborate across Product Engineering to integrate simulation and planning into broader product workflows.
Required qualifications include proficiency in Golang, C/C++, or Java; a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field (or equivalent practical experience); and 8+ years of experience designing and developing production software systems. The ideal candidate has experience with distributed systems, simulation frameworks, or network modeling.
