Okta is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer in Test to join the Identity Management Engineering (IDM) team. This role focuses on delivering large-scale, mission-critical backend solutions with an emphasis on reliability, availability, and automation. You will work in a fast-paced Agile environment alongside highly skilled engineers, ensuring projects meet the highest quality and reliability standards through comprehensive test automation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Reviewing requirements and design specifications to develop test plans and test cases
- Automating UI, API, end-to-end, reliability, and scale tests
- Collaborating with engineering management to scope and plan engineering efforts
- Communicating and documenting QE plans for scrum team review
- Reviewing application code to identify bugs and architectural weaknesses
- Automating critical features to maintain zero-debt release cadence
- Responding to production issues and customer issues during on-call rotation
- Serving as a strong customer advocate with a focus on quality
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Active Directory (AD), including group policies, AD architecture, user management, and directory services.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in software engineering or related field
- 5-8 years of QE/SDET experience in enterprise SaaS or product-based companies
- Experience in quality engineering for enterprise-level software
- Proficiency in Java-based automation development
- Familiarity with automation tools: Selenium, Cypress, API frameworks (Rest Assured, Karate), Postman, JMeter, Splunk, and AWS toolset
- Expertise in test planning and cross-team collaboration
- Experience working with distributed systems at large scale
- Ability to write and review designs and code with team members
- Ability to deliver well-designed, high-quality code on schedule
Nice to have:
- Performance testing experience
- CI/CD practices experience
- Experience with Office 365, Google, Salesforce, and Active Directory/LDAP integrations
