Salary: CAD 118,000 - 162,000 / annual
Okta is seeking an experienced Staff Software Engineer in Test to join the Identity Management Engineering (IDM) team, specifically supporting the Privileged Access Management (PAM) team. This role focuses on delivering large-scale, mission-critical backend solutions in a fast-paced Agile environment. You will work alongside highly skilled engineers to ensure projects meet the highest quality and reliability standards through comprehensive automation across the entire release pipeline.
Key responsibilities include:
- Reviewing requirements and design specifications to develop comprehensive test plans and test cases
- Automating API tests, end-to-end tests, and reliability/scale tests
- Collaborating with engineering management to scope and plan engineering efforts
- Communicating and documenting QE plans for scrum team review
- Reviewing application code to identify bugs and architectural weaknesses; designing tools for improved coverage
- Automating all critical features to maintain zero-debt cadence
- Releasing features with solid quality assurance
- Responding to production issues, alerts, and customer issues during on-call rotation
- Serving as a strong customer advocate with a quality-focused mindset
Requirements:
- 5+ years of QE experience, preferably in an enterprise SaaS company
- 3+ years of quality engineering experience for enterprise-level software
- 5+ years of experience in Python/Java-based automation development
- Familiarity with tools: Selenium, TestCafe, Postman, JMeter, Locust, Splunk, AWS, Kubernetes
- Expertise in test planning and cross-team collaborative efforts
- Experience working with distributed systems at large scale
- Ability to write and review designs and code with team members
- Ability to deliver well-designed, high-quality code on time
- Experience with non-HTTP-based protocols (SSH, RDP, TLS, LDAP, etc.)
- Experience with networking (IP addressing, routing, firewalls)
- Performance testing experience is a plus
