Life360 is hiring a Senior Software Engineer II for the Revenue Experimentation team, which owns the design, shipping, and analysis of high-velocity experiments across ads, subscriptions, and one-time purchases for nearly 100 million members. This is an AI-native role where you'll treat AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot) as first-class collaborators in your daily workflow—not just for research, but for substantive tasks like analysis, coding, refactoring, testing, and codebase navigation. You'll take hypotheses (sometimes fully-specced, sometimes rough ideas from Slack or data science findings) and turn them into running, safely-instrumented experiments. You default to shipping and iterating rather than waiting for perfect specs. You'll run dozens of concurrent tests confidently, evolve AI-native engineering workflows, and contribute playbooks the broader mobile org adopts. The role is Android-first, but you should treat platform boundaries as fluid—willing to build across iOS, web, or backend when an experiment calls for it. Key responsibilities include: designing and building high-quality Android growth and monetization features (subscription paywalls, pricing tests, ad placement experiments, IAP flows, upsell surfaces); partnering with product, design, data science, and analytics to translate hypotheses into shippable experiments; working with AI as a genuine development partner—orchestrating agents to create specs, generate code and tests, verify results, and perform reviews; instrumenting experiments accurately for trustworthy downstream results; shipping polished, performant, reliable Android experiences to tens of millions of users with strong attention to startup time, memory, battery, ANR, and crash-free rates; taking ambiguous or partially-specced ideas and getting working versions in front of real users fast; helping define and codify AI-native Android engineering practices; contributing to architectural decisions and code reviews; participating in on-call rotation and incident response; and mentoring other engineers. Success in your first year means owning end-to-end delivery across multiple concurrent experiment surfaces, shipping at least one experiment or workflow improvement without needing a fully-scoped spec, and having at least one AI-native workflow you introduced adopted beyond this team. Life360 is a remote-first company with 500+ employees serving 102.4 million monthly active users across 180+ countries. The company's mission is to keep people close to the ones they love through location sharing, safe driver reports, crash detection with emergency dispatch, and pet GPS tracking. **Requirements:** - 6+ years of Android software engineering experience shipping production apps at consumer scale - At least 1 year of hands-on experience prompting, evaluating, and building with LLMs - Strong proficiency with Kotlin and Jetpack Compose (and the Android View system); deep familiarity with the modern Android toolchain (Android Studio, Kotlin Coroutines, Flow) - Experience with Android architecture patterns (MVVM, MVI, Clean Architecture, Jetpack/ViewModel/Navigation, Hilt or Dagger) in a large, multi-team codebase - Comfort with mobile experimentation concepts: feature flagging, A/B testing, exposure logging, holdouts, and guardrail metrics - Solid grounding in mobile performance, memory, battery, ANR, and crash diagnostics (Android Studio Profiler, Perfetto/Systrace, Macrobenchmark, Crashlytics or equivalent) - Experience with CI/CD for Android (Gradle, Fastlane, GitHub Actions, Bitrise, or similar) and modular build systems - Deep experience with agentic workflows, prompt engineering, context-window management, and MCP/function calling—you understand the research-plan-implement cycle but don't outsource thinking to agents - Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent experience **What matters most:** - Agency: you don't wait to be told what to do; given a rough hypothesis or half-finished doc, you can get a working version in front of users without needing a fully-specced ticket - Ownership mentality: you own your work from design through production and beyond - Taste and craft: you have opinions about what a good experiment, rollout, and user experience look like - Growth mindset: you structure problems precisely, learn quickly, and are always happy to try something new - AI-native working style: you use AI tooling as a genuine development partner, delegating discrete tasks, reviewing outputs critically, and running parallel workstreams - Collaborative approach: you communicate clearly, work well across teams, and value diverse perspectives **Nice-to-have:** - Experience with experimentation platforms (Statsig, LaunchDarkly, Optimizely, Eppo, GrowthBook, or similar) - Background in mobile analytics pipelines (Amplitude, Segment, Snowflake/Databricks downstream) - Familiarity with Bayesian or sequential testing methods - Previous work on subscription, paywall, pricing, or onboarding surfaces at consumer scale - Deep proficiency in Kotlin/Android, Swift, or React, and comfortable shipping in another - Contributions to mobile open source or internal developer tooling
