Salary: USD 140,400 - 232,200 / annual
Braze is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Currents team to build, maintain, and evolve Currents, a robust Kafka-based data export system handling tens of billions of messages daily. This system is critical infrastructure that customers leverage to analyze user behavior in near real-time.
You will be a key engineer on a highly collaborative and skilled team, responsible for bringing projects from concept to production and improving existing high-scale systems. You'll tackle significant engineering challenges of running a critical data streaming system, leveraging your experience, skills, and strong sense of teamwork.
The role involves full-stack development on foundational systems at scale, with opportunities to mentor engineers and advance organizational goals. You'll work in a hybrid environment with a team that values autonomy, accountability, and diverse perspectives.

REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years of full-stack development experience
- Experience building foundational systems at scale and spearheading software projects that significantly advanced organizational goals
- Demonstrated ability to lead by example, mentor engineers, and make colleagues better
- Self-starter with excellent communication and organizational skills; experience in highly collaborative team environments
- Experience with Kafka at scale or comparable technology
- Professional experience with distributed systems and/or microservices
- Bonus: experience with Java, Kotlin, Confluent, or React
