Salary: USD 140,400 - 232,200 / annual
Braze is seeking a Senior Software Engineer I to join the Currents team, responsible for building, maintaining, and evolving Currents, a robust Kafka-based event pipeline data export system at scale. The Currents system handles tens of billions of messages daily that customers leverage to analyze user behavior in near real-time.
You will be a key engineer on a highly collaborative and skilled team, responsible for bringing projects from concept to production and improving existing high-scale systems. You will leverage your past experiences, skills, and strong sense of teamwork to tackle significant engineering challenges of running a critical data streaming system. The role emphasizes technical leadership through mentoring and example-setting, working with a distributed systems architecture that powers a core product offering.

REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years of full-stack development experience
- Experience building foundational systems at scale and spearheading software projects that significantly advanced organizational goals
- Demonstrated ability to lead by example and mentor engineers, making colleagues better
- Self-starter with excellent communication and organizational skills; experience in highly collaborative team environments
- Experience with Kafka at scale or comparable technology
- Professional experience with distributed systems and/or microservices
- Bonus: experience with Java, Kotlin, Confluent, or React
