OpenArt is an AI storytelling and visual creation platform serving millions of creators worldwide. You'll be the first engineer hired to build the enterprise and team infrastructure that will unlock a major new revenue stream for the company.
This is a full-stack role spanning product and infrastructure. You'll design and build core enterprise primitives including organizations/workspaces, role-based access control (RBAC), SSO/SAML integration, and audit logging. You'll own usage-based billing and invoicing infrastructure that supports both self-serve and enterprise procurement workflows (e.g., Stripe integrations). You'll harden platform security and reliability to enterprise standards—access control, data isolation, compliance groundwork for SOC 2—and design scalable backend architectures and APIs for multi-tenant, team-based usage patterns.
On the frontend, you'll build clean, polished experiences in React/Next.js for admin consoles, billing dashboards, and workspace management. You'll partner directly with founders, sales, and customers to translate deal-blocking requirements into shipped features. You'll make pragmatic build-vs-buy decisions on infrastructure tooling and clearly communicate trade-offs. As the function's first hire, you'll define OpenArt's enterprise engineering practices and help shape the team that grows around you.
This is high-ownership work with real scale: enterprise deals will close or not based on what you ship. You'll work in a founder-led engineering culture where both founders are technical and deeply involved in product and architecture decisions. The role emphasizes judgment, clarity, and speed over process.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years of full-stack engineering experience shipping and owning production systems at scale
- Strong system design and data modeling skills—comfortable reasoning about APIs, permission models, multi-tenancy, and data isolation
- Hands-on experience with infrastructure and platform work: cloud architecture, observability, scaling, or reliability engineering
- Strong AI-assisted coding practice—you use tools like Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor as a core part of your development workflow and have real opinions about what makes them effective
- Product sense for B2B—you understand what makes an admin console feel trustworthy to IT buyers and a workspace feel effortless for teams
- Strong communication skills—you can participate in customer security reviews and sales calls, then translate requirements into clear technical trade-offs for non-technical teammates
NICE TO HAVE:
- Experience with payments or billing systems (e.g., Stripe): subscriptions, usage-based billing, invoicing, disputes
- Experience with security or compliance work: SSO/SAML, RBAC, audit logging, SOC 2 / GDPR groundwork
- Experience selling to or building for enterprise customers, including procurement and security-review cycles
- Startup experience or ownership of a large product surface from 0 to 1
