Filevine is a Legal AI company building Legal Operating Intelligence for modern legal work. The platform unifies data, documents, workflows, and teams into a single system powered by LOIS (Legal Operating Intelligence System), which reads, understands, and reasons across legal data to automate complexity and surface insight.
In this Senior Software Engineer role focused on Developer Experience, you will own and re-architect the CI/CD pipeline end-to-end across three language ecosystems. You'll identify where engineering time is actually spent through conversation and data analysis, then fix the highest-impact bottlenecks. You'll build internal tooling that engineers adopt because it's genuinely better, not mandated. Your work will target flaky tests, slow feedback loops, and the seams between systems where delivery stalls.
You'll instrument delivery metrics (DORA metrics) to drive decisions and report progress. You'll improve local development setup and onboarding, and deliberately integrate AI-assisted development into the workflow. You'll carry on-call responsibility for systems you build, embodying the principle that teams support what they ship.
This is a hands-on role requiring deep CI/CD ownership—you've designed and rebuilt pipelines, not just consumed them. You'll write code your peers respect and have real software engineering ability. You need fluency in multiple language ecosystems, dependency caching, test runners, and coherent release processes. Infrastructure-as-code and containerization are table stakes. You have an ownership mindset shaped by carrying a pager for systems you've built. You can change how engineers work through mentorship, better tools, clear writing, and earned credibility. You have hands-on, non-superficial experience with AI-assisted development tooling.
Nice-to-have skills include GitLab CI at scale (runner fleets, caching strategies, reusable templates) or Octopus Deploy; build systems for .NET/MSBuild, Python packaging, or modern JavaScript tooling; monorepo tooling, pipeline observability, or security/compliance automation; and prior experience as a product/feature software engineer.
REQUIREMENTS:
