Snowflake is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Cloud Provisioning team, which builds the core abstraction layer enabling Snowflake's data platform to operate seamlessly across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud. This team is responsible for the foundational services that power Snowflake's multi-cloud infrastructure, balancing usability, performance, cost, and cognitive load for the rest of the organization.
In this role, you will design and implement scalable distributed systems that serve as the backbone of Snowflake's cloud operations. You'll solve large-scale business problems by applying distributed systems expertise, analyzing fault-tolerance and high-availability challenges, and implementing creative solutions. You will lead cross-functional initiatives collaborating with engineers, product managers, and technical program managers. A key responsibility is understanding trade-offs between consistency, durability, and cost to build solutions that meet the demands of rapidly growing services. You'll also ensure operational readiness and help meet customer commitments around availability and performance.
Snowflake emphasizes an AI-native, experimental mindset across the organization. The company is positioning itself for the "agentic enterprise" era and seeks engineers who treat AI as a high-trust collaborator and who thrive in dynamic, fast-moving environments with low ego and a rapid testing approach.
The Cloud Provisioning team is actively hiring distributed systems developers for a unique opportunity to shape the vision, architecture, and approach for core services that the rest of Snowflake depends on.

- Excellent understanding of low-level operating systems concepts: multi-threading, memory management, networking, storage, performance, and scale
- Strong CS fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems
- Systems programming skills including multi-threading and concurrency; fluency in C++ or Java preferred
- Track record of identifying and implementing creative solutions
- Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud)
- BS in Computer Science; Master's or PhD preferred
