Virta Health is reversing metabolic disease through innovations in technology, personalized nutrition, and virtual care delivery. The company has raised over $350 million and partners with major health plans, employers, and government organizations. As a Senior Software Engineer on the ReCon (Revenue & Contracts) team, you will build systems that transform clinical care delivery into recognized revenue. ReCon owns Virta's complete quote-to-cash path: contract and pricing configuration, conversion of clinical events into billable episodes of care, subscription and invoice generation, claims submission to payors, and reconciliation across commercial, billing, and clinical data systems. National health plans, PBMs, and large employers depend on the accuracy of this data not only for payment but to bill their own clients—making correctness a customer-facing product rather than back-office infrastructure. Key responsibilities include: - Leading projects end-to-end: taking ambiguous problems from finance, revenue cycle management, or client-facing stakeholders, shaping them into designs, driving reviews, and owning production outcomes - Building and extending Go services powering the quote-to-cash path, including contract configuration, billable event generation, subscription management, and claims submission - Making billing correctness provable by expanding assertion and reconciliation frameworks that catch discrepancies across Salesforce, Zuora, and clinical data before customer invoices - Improving reconciliation and billing data that health plan and employer partners depend on for their own billing - Designing self-service tools enabling finance, RCM, and operations teams to configure contracts, correct data, and run bulk changes without engineering involvement - Applying AI where it delivers genuine value - Raising team standards through design and code review, and mentoring engineers Within 90 days, you are expected to: merge and deploy a production PR while independently understanding the money path and identifying issues (30 days); complete a TDD-driven architecture review and begin building future-looking features with stakeholders (60 days); own an ambiguous problem with a product mindset and improve other engineers' designs through review (90 days). Requirements: - 5+ years building and operating backend services in production using Go or another statically typed language - Experience with event-driven architectures and their failure modes: eventual consistency, ordering, idempotency, and systems disagreement - Strong SQL skills and comfort working across application code and analytics layers - Ownership experience with systems where correctness has external consequences (billing, payments, claims, ledgers, regulated reporting) - Track record of working directly with non-engineering stakeholders: translating finance or operations problems into designs and explaining tradeoffs - Experience with a major cloud platform (GCP preferred) - Experience using AI to accelerate development workflows and enhance SDLC - Frontend development experience with React and TypeScript
