In this Senior Software Engineer role on the Business Systems team, you will design and implement technical solutions for Verkada's internal operational engine. You'll build and improve systems that enable the company to transact and ship globally, focusing on reliability, data correctness, and observability. Key responsibilities include:
- Design and implement technical solutions for internal systems that power Verkada's operations
- Build improvements to transaction and fulfillment systems supporting global operations
- Enhance system observability and invest in reliability and data integrity
- Develop customer empathy to identify and propose system improvements
- Lead projects from ideation through release
- Mentor and support junior engineers
This is an individual contributor role with mentorship responsibilities but no direct management of a team. You'll work on distributed systems at scale, with exposure to customer-facing products and internal tools. The role requires deep technical expertise and the ability to drive projects independently while supporting team growth.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years of software engineering experience with focus on distributed systems at scale
- Shipped customer-facing products or internal tools
- Flexible and adaptive in fast-paced startup environment
- Passion for observability and reliability
- In-depth expertise in distributed systems and data processing
- AWS Cloud experience with foundational services: Kubernetes, Fargate, Lambda, Airflow, Athena, DynamoDB, VPC, EC2
- Bonus: Experience with Salesforce, NetSuite, or eCommerce platforms
