Datadog is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Alerting Platform Automation team. The team's mission is to improve the processes and tooling that enable Alerting developers to operate the platform efficiently. You will design and operate automation systems that replace manual actions—from creating environments to deploying and testing safely—and build test environments that provide engineers and AI coding tools fast, reliable feedback so changes can be validated in minutes rather than days.
In this role, you will work daily with users to understand their needs, define solutions, build necessary tooling, and communicate with stakeholders. You'll collaborate closely with SRE, Core Infrastructure, and Alerting engineering teams to understand their requirements and deliver solutions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building automation systems that create and manage Alerting environments, with a focus on fast, realistic test environments that shorten the feedback loop for engineers and AI-assisted development workflows
- Working with SRE, Core Infrastructure, and Alerting engineering teams to understand needs and provide solutions
- Leading infrastructure projects and improving CI/CD and developer tooling, including deployment processes
- Identifying reliability bottlenecks and designing solutions to mitigate or eliminate them, including load testing and infrastructure configuration testing before production
- Improving infrastructure isolation and enabling services to scale automatically with load
Datadog operates as a hybrid workplace to support work-life harmony. The company values observability and security, providing unified visibility across technology stacks to manage complexity at scale.
Qualifications:
- Interest in ops and infrastructure challenges with comfort writing code to automate them
- Ability to analyze problems, identify root causes, and propose both short-term and long-term solutions
- Strong team player who works easily with team members and other development teams
- Excellent communication skills across audiences from fellow developers to top management
- Ability to work autonomously across multiple technologies owned by different teams, with willingness to discover and learn new ones
- View infrastructure and code as equally important
- Curiosity about how AI-assisted development changes the way we build and test software, with enjoyment of making tooling that works well for both humans and agents
Datadog notes that not all candidates will meet every qualification on day one and encourages passionate technologists interested in growing their skills to apply.
