MariaDB is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to help build, deploy, and operate its fully managed database platform (MariaDB Cloud) in U.S. government cloud regions. The platform runs on Kubernetes across AWS and Google Cloud, and this role focuses on expanding into AWS GovCloud and Google Cloud government environments. You will work with MariaDB's global platform engineering team, which designs and validates infrastructure in staging environments. Your responsibility is to bring that work into production U.S. government cloud environments, own their reliability, and serve as the engineering voice on the ground—feeding operational insights back into the platform's design. Key Responsibilities: - Deploy and operate Kubernetes-based infrastructure in AWS GovCloud (US) and Google Cloud using Terraform/Terragrunt and GitOps pipelines developed with the global SRE team. - Own production reliability for the U.S. government cloud environment: monitoring, alerting, capacity planning, incident response, and post-incident improvement. - Run and maintain supporting services on Kubernetes, including observability (Prometheus, Grafana), logging, secrets management, messaging, and CI/CD tooling. - Participate in implementing security hardening and compliance requirements for federal environments (e.g., FedRAMP) alongside security and compliance teams. - Automate relentlessly: convert manual tasks into code. - Participate in on-call rotation for operated environments. This is a founding U.S. engineer role for a new environment, offering high ownership and visibility with backing from an experienced global team. Everything is built as code and validated before reaching you; the focus is production excellence rather than firefighting. Requirements: - 10+ years of SRE, DevOps, or infrastructure engineering experience, including operating production Kubernetes. - Strong Infrastructure-as-Code skills (Terraform required; Terragrunt a plus) and experience with GitOps-driven deployment workflows. - Solid Linux, networking, and TLS fundamentals. - Experience with observability tooling (Prometheus, Grafana, or similar) and log pipelines. - Scripting or programming proficiency (Go, Python, or Bash). - Clear written communication skills for runbooks, incident reports, and change documentation. - U.S. citizenship and residency required due to federal government cloud access (AWS GovCloud).
