Duolingo is seeking a Senior Scaling Operations Program Manager to join their Scaling Operations function—a team dedicated to turning promising ideas into reliable, scalable systems that enable faster execution without proportional headcount growth. This role is embedded within cross-functional teams and owns programs from initial ambiguity through launch and scale.
You will lead high-leverage initiatives spanning Engineering, Product, and Learning & Curriculum, designing durable workflows and standards that reduce manual effort and enable repeatable execution at scale. Key responsibilities include orchestrating execution across multiple teams by sequencing dependencies, managing risk, and establishing SLAs and KPIs; building decision frameworks and business cases that balance impact, scale, cost, and complexity; and shrinking time-to-launch and time-to-scale through process improvements, documentation, and tooling.
You'll partner closely with engineering to mature systems for stability, observability, and resilience, serve as connective tissue across functions to surface risks and close context gaps, and measure outcomes rigorously to turn bespoke wins into adaptable workstreams.
Required experience includes program or operations management leading complex cross-functional initiatives end-to-end in product, platform, content, or operations domains; a track record of designing and scaling systems or workflows that improved speed, quality, and efficiency across multiple teams at scale; demonstrated ability to create clarity from ambiguity and drive alignment without authority; strong operational rigor with clear goal-setting and risk management; technical fluency partnering with engineering; and excellent communication skills across Engineering, Learning & Curriculum, Product, and Finance.
Exceptional candidates will have experience rapidly scaling operations or content across many languages, markets, or products; proven wins turning 0-to-1 programs into durable systems with automation or expert workflows; experience building decision frameworks for new operating models or technologies (e.g., AI-assisted scaling); and background at the intersection of engineering, content, and product.
