CesiumAstro is seeking a Senior RF Test Engineer to join their team in El Segundo, CA. The company develops communication systems for satellites, UAVs, launch vehicles, and other space and airborne platforms.
In this role, you will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and implementing engineering test plans and procedures for leading-edge satellite, spacecraft, and aerospace communication systems. You will architect RF test systems, draw insightful conclusions from test results, and participate in design-for-test planning from early product development stages.
Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with design and test engineering teams to develop test requirements
- Mapping requirements to reusable test architectures and procedures
- Implementing test plans and procedures
- Logging and presenting results to key stakeholders
- Lab and equipment management, including guiding equipment purchase decisions
- Presenting engineering design review materials to customers and the executive team
- Participating in proposal-writing efforts
You will work in a dynamic, cross-functional startup environment with hands-on, interactive, and autonomous work. Senior-level engineers are distinguished by their ability to architect RF test systems and participate in design-for-test planning from early stages. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, as you will present to customers and leadership.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor of Science (BS) or higher degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering from an accredited university
- Minimum 5 years of experience with a BS, or 4 years with a master's degree, in design, analysis, and implementation of RF test systems
- High proficiency with RF measurements (Linearity, NSD, EVM, etc.)
- Test architecture design and development including scripting, test executives, hardware, and measurement abstraction layers
- Proficiency with statistics and metrology as related to RF test design
- Hands-on experience with lab instruments: digital oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, RF signal generators, vector signal analyzers
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, conditional resident, asylee, or refugee, or eligible to obtain required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State (export control requirement)
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Familiarity or hands-on experience with phased array testing
- Programming or scripting experience (Python, MATLAB, C/C++, etc.)
- Understanding of RF and mixed-signal hardware (amplifiers, filters, ADCs/DACs, antennas) and its effects on test design
