CesiumAstro develops advanced communication systems for satellites, UAVs, launch vehicles, and other space and airborne platforms. We are seeking a Senior RF Engineer II to join our hardware team and take ownership of RF circuits and systems across all phases of the development lifecycle.
In this role, you will design board-level RF electronics with expertise spanning schematic design, PCB layout, and system-level communications concepts including link budgets and modulation schemes. Your work will encompass phased array communication systems, including RF front-ends, frequency converters and synthesizers, filters, beamformers, power dividers, and phased array antennas.
Responsibilities include:
- RF hardware design from concept through requirements definition, part selection, detailed design, analysis, manufacturing, testing, qualification, and in-orbit support
- Block diagrams, detailed schematics, PCB layout and routing, simulations, and test design
- Presenting engineering design review materials to customers and executive leadership
- Participating in proposal-writing efforts
- Hands-on lab work with test and measurement equipment
You will work in a dynamic, cross-functional startup environment with emphasis on autonomous, interactive work and collaborative problem-solving.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor of Science (BS) or Master of Science (MS) in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university
- 5+ years of industry experience in RF electronics design, analysis, test, and troubleshooting
- Proficiency with professional simulation tools (CST, ADS) and EDA tools (Altium)
- Hands-on experience with lab instruments: vector network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, oscilloscopes
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- U.S. citizenship or eligible immigration status (government space technology export regulations)
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- MATLAB or other programming languages
- Aerospace electronics design, development, and qualification
- Worst-case circuit analysis, failure method and criticality analyses, reliability analysis
- Antenna design
- EMI/EMC design and mitigation techniques
